Thank you all for the lovely emails and comments. You are the sweetest group of women!!!
I am doing OK. I keep telling myself, "The sicker you are the healthier the baby is." I am convinced of this. This baby will be the healthiest ever born.
Morning sickness - check
Afternoon sickness - check
Late afternoon/Early evening sickness - Check check check check check
Evening sickness - check check
Night sickness - check
I do not remember being this restless this early with any of my other pregnancies -but I am too sick to really do much of anything. I pace, I nap, I eat watermelon, drink juice, try to do a load or two of laundry. Colby is my savior. She does so much around the house for me. Without her I would really have to hire a housekeeper.
Steven worries but is VERY excited! He just grins -and hovers like a mother hen.
He also was the first to exclaim, "Hey the boobie fairy came!"
Yes, she did come and I don't remember that happening this early before either.
Cravings - I wasn't craving anything UNTIL MommaK posted her crab night affair. Now when I am actually hungry all I can think of is "Crabs and Shrimp". I want crabs and shrimp.
BTW, who told all these young mothers not to eat fish and seafood when pregnant? Fish and seafood is a part of a healthy well balanced diet. As long as the items are properly cooked and not eaten raw or seared, there is no worry about miscarriage. The problem is parasites that live in some seafoods and fish when eaten raw and mercury that might be in high levels in things like eel and shark -which I do not eat. A lovely properly cooked fish or shellfish is not dangerous.
Did I mention I am craving crabs and shrimp?
I am!!
When I am outside in the heat, my feet swell. I don't remember this happening this early either. My fingers swell too. What's up with that? I had to take my wedding band off and leave it off.
I am whiney. Normally I am the type to suffer in silence but I am so whiney I get on my own nerves.
"How are you feeling?"
"I am feeling sick. I am just sick sick sick. The same sick I told you an hour ago when you asked. No, you can't do anything to help. I am SICK!"
I felt the baby move a couple days ago. A tiny fluttering brushing sensation.
One more thing about being sick - waking up sick every day somehow is a comforting reaassurance that yes, indeed, I am pregnant. It is not a dream. Before this I would have never considered morning sickness a blessing. Now I do.
Knowing this will be my last pregnancy, the last baby of my own I will hold in my arms, I am relishing in the blessing of the miracle growing inside of me.

Colby is a good girl!
Whining is ok when you are this sick.
If only the boobie fairy would come visit me!
Angie, I hope that the sickness only lasts a little while and that you will soon be good as new (maybe better, according to Steven and the boob fairy).
When you mentioned the flutter, I had immediate deja vu - and I could swear I felt that flutter again too! I remember it so well!
As one of your many WOMEN admirers, let me say you do an excellent job of making sick pay off in an interesting Internet piece.
I will always commend you. We WOMEN gotta stick together.
I think there are more polluted rivers now and that's where all the fish worries came from. Probably saves litigation to strongly suggest avoiding all fish. (And what's one more thing for a pregnant woman to worry about among the thousands of other concerns of what might mess everything up?! No wonder nearly every mom is medicated.)
For relishing this pregnancy, your body seems to have it on speed dial, woman! The boob fairy already?! Feeling movement?! Wow!!
Too bad it's not fast forwarding the queasy part.
But oooohhhhhhh, you get a baby out of the deal. I'm so jealous.
Give your daughter a special hug and a kiss. What a great kid for being a help. Someday maybe you'll be returning that favor...
I predict you are having a boy! I think more water to drink and NO salt what so ever since you're swelling early ( just so you don't get preeclampsia) I also think that I am not a doctor and you should eat and drink and do what you want. I also think that the morning sickness will calm down in approximatley 3-4 weeks :) I also think that you should whine. Not only are you a woman but a pregnant one at that and whining is what we do best. I think that you should hug your other kids and thank them for not making you this sick when you were carrying them! Ahaha.. I also think that you should have some crab and shrimp.
Now I think I am done :)
I figure it is a boy since when I was pregnant with my son I was way sicker than with my daughter. In my logical thinking mind, it had to be a male giving me this much trouble, lol. Stop the whining (see I bet for a second you were thinking GO TO HELL) and it took your mind off of being sick or whining. I'm such a help to you, lol. Colby is better than gold.
Aw!! I'm ready for the crab house whenever you are sweet thing! And we can even bring a gag bag in case it all gets too much for you. (sorry, was that too gross?)
Sending you hugs our hot sweaty neck of the woods:-)
The fish thing is about mercury.
Ginger, chamomile, bread, and those silly wrist bands for seasickness.
Yes, crystallized ginger really helps. I'm remembering now.
And yes, feeling sick is a blessing I had a friend who was feeling fine and the baby was not thriving, it turns out. You are sick because that baby is damn busy growing!
We like your whining, by the way.
I am so excited and happy for all this happening for you. your daughter is a sweetie, your husband is a sweetie, and I have no doubt this is going to be the luckiest and most loved baby in the whole world. hope you will feel better soon though.
Well gah..now I want crabs and shrimp too! Take care sweetie. This too shall pass.
So I take it you are feeling.....sick then? :) It will get better....right? Well definitely in nine months but hopefully way before then! HAHAHAHA
Hey you passed your crab craving to me!
Be Well!
