Can't Type

| | Comments (29)
I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome brought on by this pregnancy. I have numbness in the fingers on my right hand. Typing is painful and extremely difficult. I am wearing hand braces which I hope will cure some of the constant pain. Thank you for all of your concern. I have so much to share with you as soon as I am able to type more than a couple lines.

Thank God that's all it is. I don't mean to lessen your pain, Angie, it's just that my mind goes places it shouldn't when you don't post often. I was afraid it was something else.....hope it goes away soon.

oh Angie, take all the time you need to recover. I sure can't wait to hear about your stories, but take good care of yourself and your little baby first, I/we will be here waiting anyway.

Thanks for gritting teeth and bringing us up to date, Angie. We all just want the best for you, so lay low for awhile -- for as long as you need to. Have Colby tell us what's up if necessary. But whenever you get back, we your faithful readers will be here. Hugs. Hoss.

That sucks. I'm sorry you're suffering. Try acupuncture treatment and if that doesn't work for you, you can use Dragon Naturally Speaking.

I was just thinking about you today. Sorry to hear of the pain in your hand but I am glad its nothing more serious. I think we were all a little worried...or a lot;-)

Miss you. Take care.

I WAS getting worried, even though I didn't e-mail you. Glad to hear you are okay.

I was worried too! In fact, I came home this evening and sat down to email you but thought I would check here first. I'm glad you're ok, but I'm sure it's very uncomfortable. Take care, Angie.

What everybody else said. I was gonna wait another few days to e-mail, though, in case it was Katrina related non-posting.

Glad you are okay in other respects. If it doesn't go away, could you just type "I'm OK" every week or so to keep us from getting the worry bug on?

Sorry to hear that. I too suffered that when pregnant. I cried for months think I was never even going to be able to hold my own kids.

I was wondering about you too! I know how bad that CTS can hurt. Take care ;)

Oh, Angie! I'm sorry! I recently found out this crops up again during menopause- wonder what the hormonal link is? I hope your fingers are nimble again soon. Take good care.

I used to sleep with my wrists curled tightly and that gave me some seriously crippling carpal tunnel pains. The braces helped a lot.
(And if not, just THINK of the awesome mother's day shit you're going to be getting to make up for all this!)

Halloween tip- if you stagger around with your arms out and braces on, you can do a really awesome zombie impersonation.

oh what a bummer. I had it too when I was pregnant, but not that bad. I truly hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted.

Oh, I'm glad it's not more serious, too.

Carpal tunnel is the pits, I know that first-hand...aaaaa, heh...no pun intended! GAH! ;)

The braces will help and resting those wrists all you can. Just take it easy...or hire, bribe or cajole somebody into typing for you! :)

Take care!!

I was wondering what had happened to you! I hope this is the worst of it. Take care of yourself and remember, we'll still be around to listen to your stories when you're able to post again!

Oh Angie, I feel for you.

When I was pregnant, the left side of my face and my left arm would get numb nearly every time I typed for more than a few minutes. Not as painful as carpal tunnel, but frightening. My doctor said these kinds of nerve troubles are common during pregnancy.

I hope you get better soon. If not, you'll have to get some voice activated software!! :)

Dave Morris said:

It flares up in me occasionally, too. I click a mouse about 10,000 times per day, and my index finger on the right hand hurts all the way to my elbow. Ouch!

Get better soon.

didn't know that side effect of pregnancy. Take care until you can dragonvoice dictation or audio blog or straight out type again.

Darling, we need to get you on an audio blog so you can broadcast to your followers.

Hugs girlfriend..I'm not far away if you need help ;0) It just may have to be at midnight since I can't seem to even find time to sleep lately! Nighttime is good for driving insomniacs right? Feel better soon...and seriously..if you need anything..

Good Morning Angie.. just thinking about you today. :)

Angie, we miss you so much! Can you enlist the help of a talented typist to whom you can dictate your next post??

Hope you are feeling better soon.

My thoughts are always with you- we older mums do have to stick together.

I look forward to many baby pics and more farm news- while sending you much sympathy during this, oh, not so easy pg.

CTS sucks! Have you tried acupuncture? As a PT, I am constantly using my wrists with patients, and I can tell you that the alternative therapies offered now really do have a place. Also, ultrasound helps, but some might not want to treat you being preggo, but the wrist isn't the abdomen, so it's worth the shot. Hope that helps. I think I must blogroll you. Come see me when you aren't numb, swollen, and ready to curse your hubby for doing this to you.
