Stray Cat Strut
This is what has taken up residence at the back door.

The kids found it a week or so ago down by the road hiding in the bushes meowing. I am not a cat person. Neither is Steven. Therefore very strict rules.
No cats in the house. The cat may live in the barn. As long as it learns to be a mouser we will take care of it -well, the kids will. At Costco we picked up a case of canned food. I guess it will be around long enough to eat 48 cans.
The kitten needs to learn the rules. The minute we open the back door it makes a mad dash to get in. It often succeeds. :-/
The kids named it. I don't know for sure which name has stuck. It could be Rose McGillicutty. It could be Mrs. Darcy. I have no idea which they decided on.
I now stand corrected. The kitten's name is Tinkerbell -Tinky for short.

AWWWWWWWWWW-Let the little kitty in the house! She's cold and lonely in the stinky goat barn!
She'll keep all kinds of critters away from your ginormous old place and lay on your feet when it starts to get cold.
So let's see, you have MY HOUSE, a huge yard and garden, a baby on the way, and now the cutest kitten in the world.
This is starting to get annoying, lady.
Her eyes are stunning! I've got to agree with Susie, let her join the family! ;)
besides, you do need a cat for cat photos on Friday, right? ;)
She's just precious! My husband brought home a stray nearly two years ago - he's all white with one green eye and one blue and he's DEAF (the cat, not the husband!) He's just the cutest little bugger. I agree with Susie Sunshine - let her in - she'll keep you warm in the winter and they have an amazing calming effect when everything else in life seems soooo stressful!
Oh, Lord, Angie, he is the cutest kitten. You may learn to love him yet! And MITer is right, they do have a wonderfully calming effect when they curl up in your lap.
Oh, I'm all blubbery that you won't let pretty kitty in the house. We used to have cats and always said, "Cats are people, too." (Lots of people reincarnate as cats because they live pretty much the way they want to, which these people couldn't when they were among the living.) Colby promises to empty the litter box.
Poor Angie- you're taking it on the ear today. And I'm with the crowd- let her in! She's absolutely darling- just beautiful. And tabby cats are the best sort- smart, clean, essentially no dander as allergens and they are eternally grateful. She has the kiind of coat that won't shed much. She's there for a reason. Take her in, give her a litter box and switch to dry kitten chow at least part of the time; surprisingly it's easier on her digestive system.
You'll be surprised how quickly The Force will sway you...
I'm sorry to tell you that with a face like that and a name like Tinkerbell it most definitely will not end up being a barn cat.
and you'll love it.
I grew up with cats and am now allergic.
She's so adorable!! I've come out of lurking just to vote for her being allowed in the house!!! Plus, speaking as a young girl who was allowed to bring her own stray kitten into the house, the points you get and the chores that will get done are totally worth it ;)
Awwww--what's not to love? My advice--skip the canned food and go for the kibble. Her teeth won't rot as soon and she'll be encouraged to find her own mousie type treats if she isn't eating the good stuff all the time.
Great to see you back!
that is the cutest little kitty..I am a cat lover and I would of brought it in and hid it from the hubby...LOL...I am a sucker for animals with 4 legs and fur..hence why I have one cat, one dog, 2 bunnies...aww yes...
tiny is cute...nuf said:)
i mean tinky...not tiny...my bad...i cant spell:)
What a beauty!! She would have stolen my heart in a second. All I can say is- What a lucky cat!! :)
Cute kitty, yeah get into them about the slow work and ask for a discount they have brocken the contact and you should be compensated
mark
Angie, I forgot to tell you that if you do relent and bring her into the house, make Colby take care of the litter. A pregnant woman should not come into contact with cat feces.
Well, you know how I am with the animal lovin'. But as long as we are all giving advice and bossing you around, may I put in my 2 cents?
The world does not need any more kittens, as cute as they are. So, whether or not you ever let her in the house, please get her spayed before she goes into her first heat. And get her the shots she needs so she won't die an unpleasant death.
Are you starting to be sorry that you posted about the pesky kitten?
She doesn't have to be 100% indoor. You can let her in while you're home and feeling cuddly, and boot her out when you're tired of her being in. If you put her out every once in a while, she'll get the hang of outdoor pottying and you won't have to deal with a (stinky, messy) litterbox. She'll ASK to go outside, or just slip out the next time someone opens the door.
And don't tell ME you're not cat people. CANNED FOOD, for an "unwanted stray"? *scoff* Even our most spoiled of kitties only gets canned food at CHRISTMAS! :)
She is sooo cute- I want her! and I don't even want a cat-
I could use one though- there's a little country mouse who has decided she wants to live in my car!
-Tinker looks like just the right size and up for the job!
She is adorable, but I am not a cat person either and with a 85 pound black lab with a crazy cat-hatin' streak I never could be.
I wonder if she'll pick up on how you feel and try to endear herself to you...
Good luck :)
She is sooooo adorable.
Hi Angie, Just in case Hoss is right, maybe you should relent a LITTLE, this may be a reincarnation of someone important!! seems to think he/she should be a house cat not a barn cat.
I'm just sayin'
