Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

| | Comments (24)
My mother came for Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time. It snowed a little on Wednesday night. It was melted and gone by Thursday morning.

I prepared dinner and dressed the table.

Steven carved the turkey.

thanks3.jpg
Starting Friday we began putting up Christmas decorations. Can you find Steven?

thanks4.jpg
Colby and Gracie watched. Alot.

I had thought I wanted a Nikon D70s for Christmas. I decided Thursday I wanted the decorations for our fence more.

thanks6.jpg
I worked on the fence. All day Saturday.

You are viewing my Christmas present. 405 feet of green branch garland. 60 red bows. 3 wreaths. The lights are up in the front of the house. We have hung 17 wreaths -so far. The staircase is dressed in lighted garland. My big tree is up. The mantle is decorated. The kids beds are dressed in Christmas linens. Their small trees are decorated. I forget what else. Decorations are well underway and almost finished. Invitations for our Christmas party go out tonight. The menu is planned. My mother made it back home in record time. For everything and everyone I am so very thankful. WMAWMM - I have been on my feet for the past 3 days. While Steven finished up the decorations on the 2nd story of the house I trimmed bushes, clipped hedges, pruned trees, mulched the peonies beds after I cut everything back to the ground. Steven and I also hauled a load of firewood and stacked it near the back door. I am tired and sore. I moved it ALOT this weekend. NaNoWriMo - I won't make it this year. I have too much going on.

Your home is beautiful! I love love love the fence! Glad that your Thanksgiving went well your table was lovely.

That is a lot of decorating to have to take down. haha.

I am still stuck in the middle of a half painted room with all the furniture in the middle of it. Sadly I won't be able to get my Christmas tree up until next week sometime. Sigh.

The garland is lovely, but then so is the D70s....I know because I have one and it makes me a very happy photographer.

Everything looks beautiful, Angie!

I don't know why NaNoWriMo has to be in November. I've thought about doing it for the past two years, but November is incredibly busy around here with birthdays and whatnot, so there's no way I could ever do it then. I wish it was NaFebWriMo instead. We don't have anything going on in February!

Angie, last year at our Governor's Mansion, I made 65 red velvet bows for their fences and light posts. I would be happy if I could have made your bows for your fence! Everything looks great; the turkey was beautiful too.

Sounds like a gorgeous holiday at your place. Glad you had a blessed day.

Oh, Angie. It's all so beautiful! Anytime you wanna trade that place for a rodent-infested overpriced house in the city, you just let me know. If I didn't like you so much, I'd be teeming with jealousy.

Your house is beautiful! I love the garland on the fence.

The garland (which makes your house look like a Norman Rockwell painting magically made real) was a fabulous addition to the decoration!!!
You could rent/buy/borrow/steal a one-horse open sleigh with a pony named Macaroni to sit in the front yard with the kids in it for the most AWESOME Xmas card picture ever. (On second thought, save that one for next year when there can be a smiling baby in it. Just imagining the cuteness of THAT photo is causing me to have contractions!)

ALL DAY with a garland?! You are a wonder, woman!

It seems like there were some sort of mechanical issues with the Nikon D70's that would piss me off if I had the smack to spend on a camera that expensive and awesome. Or maybe I dreamed it in an effort to deal with the fact that there will not be a decent camera in this house until after my grandchildren are born.

Happy Thanksgiving and the fence looks beautiful as well as the rest of the house I am sure!

Maybe Santa will still bring the Nikon D70, you never know.

Your table was lovely and your Christmas decos are looking great! I never spend as much time outside as I do inside for decorating and I am thinking that may be a mistake. You've inspired me! Nov/Dec are so full, aren't they? I am hosting a cookie exchange on the 18th and it is all I can think about right now.
Remember to rest :)
~K!

1. The fence is spectacular.
2. I found Steven. He's cutting up the house to put another window on Floor 2.
3. Lovely table setting.
4. Too bad about NaNoWriMo, but, my goodness lady, you got way too many irons in the fire (and bun in oven).
5. Thanks for your frequent posts. Always a highlight for Ol' Hoss.

Hey, I have a D70 and lemme tell ya - I think you made the right choice. I do love the camera, but it's not PERFECT. Your decorations, however, ARE. And your pictures are AWESOME, so pffft on a new camera.

Thanks so much for the pics and lovely glimpse into your life.

It all looks perfectly lovely. Won't it be nice to have it all done soon and relax and enjoy it for a month? I love that feeling...

Is he the one imitating Chevy Chase by the 2nd floor window? I think so...Beautiful holiday decor, Angie. One of the best parts is the natural grasses left standing against the contrast of the red bows. I fear that you have won this years holiday decorating contest- although so far it's just your house and a dead lizard in top of a tree.
Very nice job, indeed. Keep your feet up!

Ok, if anyone wants lessons on gorgeous and TASTEFUL decorations I will send them to you. It is seriously inspiring, Miss Angie. And your Thanksgiving table was also extra-lovely. Please take it easy now, you are making me very nervous with all the fence-decorating and firewood chopping. I'm thinking of firing you from WYAOWMM.
