I am strayng from my normal Christmas fare this year. I am blaming it on being pregnant. I just do not have a taste for ham at all. I think beef will better suit me -and I hope Steven and the girls as well. It seems I am blaming alot of things on being pregnant these days. Traditionally I would serve ham, turkey, dressing with gravy, sweet potatoes, collards, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, red velvet cake and orange cake. Similar to our Thanksgiving dinner yet different. I am planning to serve for our Christmas day dinner the following menu:
A Christmas Menu
25 December 2005

Standing Rib Roast (Prime Rib)
with horseradish sauce

Yorkshire Pudding

Herb Potatoes

Asparagus Spears
with lemon and butter

Spinach Salad

Red Velvet Cake
Breakfast will be served with fresh baked cinnamon rolls, fruit, and mimosas (made with sparkling white grape juice for the children). What will you be serving or expect to be served?

Please let me know if your Yorkshire pudding turns out okay. I tried to make it years ago and it was a huge flop. I need your advice on it!

We are going to my son's home for our traditional Christmas Eve family dinner. I expect Honeybaked Ham and mashed potatoes, but I don't know what else is on the menu. I am taking the potatoes, and I gave them a gift cert. for the ham, so I am sure of those. I think I'd rather have your menu!

Sorry about the multiple comments yesterday. The problem was - I only clicked once - and it told me I could post again so soon. I said "WTF? I only did it once!" We will see what happens today.

Please for the love of God let my son come to your house for Christmas. We are going to my SIL who will be serving turkey jerky. Not that they meant to be serving that, but what do they expect when they cook the hell out of turkey for hours. You need a glass of sand to wash it down. At least Christmas Eve dinner will be good, even if it is not Peking duck, lol. Red Velvet cake is on that menu, wooo hooo. Also, I am going to put Godiva White Chocolate liquor in the egg nog. Yeah, baby, Merry Christmas!

We are having a quiet Christmas at home. Tonight we are going to Maggianos for dinner. Tomorrow night- Chef Yang's- an all-you-can-eat sushi and seafood buffet. Cheesy, I know, but I told Hubs I wanted Christmas Eve to be fun for the whole family. That means NO CLEAN UP! Anyway, I go all out at Thanksgiving, so Christmas Eve is my time to rest... Tomorrow, though, I will make my mother-in-law's Swedish Spritz for the family- Cookies shaped like angels, snowflakes, candy canes, etc. Christmas day, I'm making Hummingbird cake and that night, we'll have filet mignon, homemade yeast rolls and vegetables, with the cake for dessert. Two days later, the girls will visit their mom for a week and that's when -my- holiday begins. ;) I love 'em to death, but man, I'm ready for a break.

We had Christmas last weekend with all of our family out of town, so since it's just 3 of us, I'm just baking a ham, sweet potatoe casserole, fresh green beans, orange, pineapple salad.
One of our local grocery stores had standing rib roast on sale and I was sooooo tempted to get one but I'm not sure how to cook it.

Merry Christmas to ALL, and Happy New Year!!

Your comment thingie has been PISSES ME OFF because I am NOT MALICIOUS. Bitter and vindictive-sure BUT NOT MALICIOUS.

This year my family will probably be dining on:

Chicken soup (extra brothy)
Oyster crackers
Saltines
Pedialyte and Gatorade
Applesauce (possibly cinnamon to make it more festive)

And I'm surprisingly okay with it all.

Your new template is lovely but I want to grab baby Jesus and kiss his little cheeks and I'm not sure that is appropriate.

I don't know. I think I'm coming to your house for dinner haha :)

Christmas eve we spend with Adam's parents. We will be having pork loin. My MIL is an amazing cook and I'm sure we'll have a lot of goodies to go with it. I'm hoping for her scalloped potatoes.

Christmas day I believe we're having turkey and ham. We have a big family and there will be about 24 of us at the table.
May you have a blessed Christmas.

Hi. Coming here late.

Last night for Christmas Eve we had Raclette (Swiss tradition similar to fondue) and Mistress Mary's artichoke soup and cookies and stolen (from local bakery)...and chocolates.

Tonight we had:
Lobster Tail
Filet Mignon
Lucinda's stuffing
Lucinda's party potatoes
MommaK's pineapple Mush
Spinach souffle
cranberry sauce (oranges and cranberries version)
crescent rolls

For breakfast we had your delicious cinnamon rolls and an egg csserole.

It was all delicious, though I stayed up very late on Christmas Eve preparing everything so I wouldn't have to do much prep on Christmas day.
