Thirteen Things about Angie
***UPDATED to add cinnamon roll recipe***
1. The doctor gave me a strong antibiotic. It is working. My face no longer hurts from the sinus to the bones and the start of it moving to my chest has stopped. Another day or so and I should be all better for Christmas. 2. The first Christmas Steven and I had together the gremlins moved in. We were visited by pestulance in the form of flying spiders on our fresh cut Christmas tree. We were on orange alert for possible headlice which ended up being code red. Steven had pink eye and other ailments. 3. The second Christmas the girls were sick. The plague was visited upon us in several forms. Also we had appliances that decided to go belly up. Not to mention we were in the middle of negotiating the contract for this house and my nerves were completely shot. We also had to replace the dishwasher on Thanksgiving. 4. This year we are being visited but the Ghost of Christmas flood. The septic tank had to be pumped because things were backing up in my downstairs bathtub. The next day we are still having major back up problems. The plumbing/septic company returned to snake the pipes. Several hundreds of dollars later we can now bathe and flush the toilets but the washing machine drain lines have to be replumbed. 5. Next year better not be the year of the famine. :-/ 6. This conversation happened with Steven at work. "last year you gave her a farm for Christmas. How are you going to top that this year?" He had no snappy reply. Last year we did not sign the papers on the house until January 25th. This year he has topped it by a long shot. He has given me something I never had before. A baby boy, only he won't arrive until January also. We have had to spend so much on repairs lately I asked him not to spend the money on the Nikon D70s. It can wait. I would like a bluetick hound. But I can't see that happening. 7. Steven and the girls are going somewhere this morning. No mother's are allowed. I am tired of begging them not to spend money on me for Christmas. He won't listen. 8. I need to get through today and tomorrow and then, AND THEN!! we get to go eat peking duck. My mouth is watering already at the thought!!! 9. I need to call and get a load of firewood delivered. 10. I have a washer full of wet soppy clothes waiting for Steven to repair the plumbing so I can finish my chores. 11. I love waking up on Christmas morning and my house being perfectly clean. Not one thing out of place. Everything sparkling and shiney. Breakfast mostly prepared. Coffee pot waiting to be switched on. Children not allowed to come downstairs until Steven and I are up, the coffee is on, the tree is lit and the camera ready to capture the moment. The kids HATE it. Hahahaha I am so mean. 12. This is our first Christmas in our house. There is something very special about it. I want to freeze time and save itin a bottle so I can uncap it every once in a while and take adeep sniff. My house will be scented with lemons and oranges and apples and cinnamon. there will be awesome cinnamon rolls waiting to be popped in the oven while the kids are opening their Santa trove of treasures. I'll try to remember to post the recipe for the cinnamon rolls. They are the BEST. 13. Thank you all for being so sweet and kind. Thank you for the friendships and acquaintances we have formed over these past months. Thank you for listening when I whine and gripe. Thank you for the sholders to cry on when things aren't so well. May you also be blessed now and in the new year. May you find God's peace that passes understanding. May He bless you and keep you for all the days of your lives. Angie, I am so glad you posted this. Whenever you don't post for a day or two I worry about you! Glad to know the doc fixed you up so you won't be sick on Christmas.

I know your home will be perfect on Christmas; too bad you cannot bottle it and sell it! Take lots of pics, so you can look at them years from now and think about the first Christmas in your wonderful home, the one where you prepared for your special little boy and forget the pipes and septic system and wet clothes in the washer.

The very best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and the best year ever in 2006.

I hate for this to be my first comment on your blog (which I am enjoying very much, by the way) but if you find that your septic is still backing up after the remedies you have tried, could it be that your drainfield is saturated and needs to be replaced? I bring this up only because our drainfield had to be replaced last winter -- and it was only 12 years old. I hope I am wrong. I'm sure the septic people would have thought of this if it were a possibility. Anyway! Merry Christmas. Take care of you and yours. And if you find that cinnamon roll recipe, I'd love to try it. We need a little something special on Christmas morn, too. XO

Happy Thursday 13!

Gah, you're certainly having a bad luck streak this time of the year.

We're like that with Thanksgiving, though they have been near-misses. Like last year we had the electricity go out for 14 hours the day/night before Thanksgiving. Man, we were really sweating it until the power came back on. This year the sink started backing up..bad. We had to use the water a little bit at a time. Turns out our pipes had corroded.

Angie! I hope you are back to 100%.

I want to tell you how touched I feel every Thursday when I see you've automatically put my name up here. I notice and it means a lot.

Post those cinammon roll recipes soon and I'll make them, too.

Now I need to scour around for all those recipes you posted here.

I hope you enjoy your first christmas in teh new house and no plagues happens...lol

Merry Christmas!

I'm still marvelling at the whole sparkling house Xmas morning. It sounds ideal, but I've never had the energy to pull it off after the all-night marathon Santa wrapping session.

I want to be at your house over the holidays, backed up septic system and all!
