Momma's Secrets #75
Who nominated me?

I was pleasantly surprised to find a comment left that I had been nominated for an award.
How lovely of your secret self to nominate me. I am even more surprised to find the nomination in the most inspiring catagory.
Now, who done it?
Oh, and go vote for me!

I am slow`at getting my new template up. I am getting all the new links put in and hope to unveil this week.

Irritated and offer this to unirritate myself:
If you are going to complain to the entire internet that your baby is constipated yet at the same time tell the internet that you do not want any advice or remedies -you should not read this post and shame on you when you can prevent the problem in the future.
If your baby is constipated:
Mix 1 tsp light Karo syrup with 4 oz of warm water. Feed baby.
We used to put the syrup into formula but sometimes the baby gets used to sweet formula and has trouble going back to the plain formula.
Why and how does it work? The sugar draws extra fluid into the bowel and softens the stool. In decades past honey was used but we all know the warnings associated with feeding babies honey -the raw honey has bacteria in it that can cause a baby to become extremely ill.
Funny all the little things I remember now. Two weeks ago I couldn't have thought of any rememdies if you asked me point blank.
BTW, for the record, my baby doesn't have diaper rash nor is he constipated. I offer these tips as they come to mind in hopes they may help someone have a little easier time being a mommy (or daddy).

Does the Karo syrup method work for full grown adults too? LOL
Congrats on the award, Angie! It's well-deserved!
have a wonderful weekend snuggling with your little one :)
p.s. how are your daughters enjoying their new status as Big Sisters?
Just came back from voting. I agree with Laura, it would be great to hear what the girls think about their new little brother. Poor Britny should have read your advice, she took her baby to the hospital for constipation.
I'm guilty. You inspired me all the way over there to nominate you ;-)
xo
MommaK was very busy with the nominating business. I was a good citizen of the blogosphere and did my voting this morning. I like that she is not posting the number of votes for each nominee. I would be totally depressed if I was in last place.
I like your little Momma's Secrets posts. But where were you 20 years ago when I needed you?
So what have you got for 75-year-olds? We get the honey? With warm beer?
Angie, I voted for you - now go do the same for me, please? I was very surprised to see I had been nominated!
EW! Hoss, honey with warm beer? I'd rather be constipated!
Heh heh, I know exactly to whom you are referring. You can give me baby advice ANYTIME Angie. How about getting pregnant advice? Got any of that? ; )
Karo syrup, I'm making a note of this.
The Karo works! After calling the doctor twice about my daughters problem and they recommended apple juice (for a one month old, she wouldn't even taste it.) I finally listened to what my mom had been telling me all along, try some Karo. We tried it and it worked great! You always have great advice. I will be voting for ya. EP
I cast my vote- and Angie- you are forgiven for the templete's- you are a little busy at the moment:)
Angie, thanks for the visit and comment about the clothes and shoes. They were Striderite High-tops, and back in 1967, they cost $16 per pair, which was a princely sum!
If you could even find them now, they'd probably be $75!
Thanks for the constipating tip. Luckily I've never had a constipated baby. Toddler, yes, once.
Anyway, I SHOULD have nominated you for that award. Does that count for anything.
I did vote for you, Angie.
I don't know who nominated you :) But I voted for you :)
You're so sweet to offer this advice.. where were you almost 5 years ago when I was that new mommy needing it HAHAH
Angie, thanks for the visit. Come on now....tell me some tales....LOL. I have an idea that the two of us could spin tales for hours and hours!
I also found that glycerine suppositories work very well. But you have to hold their sweet little butt cheeks together or else they'll quickly 'splode all over without unclogging.
