In The New Year
I have read the first 5 Little House books for the second time in my life. I had forgotten so much. Each book was like discovering an old friend all over again. I have four more of the original books to go. I have taken down much of the Christmas decorations. I still have a bit to go. I am always sad to see them go away into the boxes and to the attic. In her later years my grandma decided to leave her tree up all year long more for her religious conviction than for decorations. She always said the Lord was so good to her that every day was like Christmas and thus so she celebrated in her way by enjoying her Christmas tree. There were a lot of movies given to people in this house over the holiday. I am watching them one by one -mostly while taking down decorations. We had 15 people in and out and sleeping in this house over the holiday weeks. Those people who do not normally live here abused my plumbing in the worst way. The bill to repair the damage was more than $500. I will not be willing to host the people in my home again. Yes, they were family. I do mean they will not be invited to spend any length of time living in my house ever again. I do mean that. Gracie caught a nasty cold but I am pleased to say she beat the cold and did not have any asthmatic problems. Yayyyy, Gracie! She had a check-up yesterday. Her lungs sound great. The daily inhaled meds are doing their job perfectly. The doctor handed over 5 inhalers with 200 doses of meds each (1000 daily doses) because Gracie and one other child were the only ones who could use the meds effectively. She saved me $127 per bottle. I guess in one way I got back the money I had to shell out for the broken plumbing. Steven had his check-up yesterday too. He weighs in at 22lbs 7 oz and measures 30 3/4 inches tall. He has shown no sign of any problem but on examination she said he had an ear infection. :-/ He is on an antibiotic for the next 10 days. I cannot believe that in 1 month he will already be 1 year old. The time has flown by faster than we realize. Remember when I had planned to do nothing but rest a few days? Hahahahaha, me, too. Did. Not. Happen. Soon, I tell myself. -After all the decorations are down. And how are you?

My kids hated to see the Christmas tree go down. They'd like for it to be up all year! But, alas, Momma gets tired of picking up all the loose pine needles.
We packed up all the Christmas stuff over the last 2 days and put it all in the attic today. I was not sad to see it go at all! One thing did make me sad, though. I found (in a closet) my mother's creche (from the 40's), with the few people and animals (plaster) that are left. I could not remember putting it in that closet and I thought it had long ago disappeared. It made me happy to find it, but sad that it had been "lost" in a closet for so long. This time, I put it away with all the other Christmas stuff, so it will not be forgotten again.
I remembered it was getting close to steven's birthday and thought how it surely doesn't seem like a year! Glad to know that Gracie's asthma is responding to the meds (and free ones at that!). Happy New Year, Angie!
Yea Gracie! Another reason to hug that child. What the heck did family members do to the plumbing?? Glad you are enjoying those books, are you reading them outloud to them?
I'm never glad to see Christmas over, but I do seem to rush putting the stuff away every year. It is going to be a busy year and trying to get projects done. Trouble is can't do something before something else is finished and that can't be started until later. Drives me nuts.
Happy New Year!!
We found out in December that Phoebe Jo has asthma too. She doesn't have it as bad as Gracie. Her breathing treatments are more on a need to have basis. Which is good for a one year old that doesn't like anything in her face. She's learning though. I can't believe Steven is going to be one soon. Just seemed like yesterday we were pregger together.

I'm doing well thanks :) Just sitting here utterly baffled how overnight guests could end up causing 500.00 damage to plumbing. WOW!
Happy New Year!!!
Glad to hear that Gracie is doing well. What a trouper the baby is to have an ear infection and not cry.
I also, host people at my home and marvel at the stuff they do at my home that they would never in a million years do in their own. My sister visited over the summer and made a berry pie that she put in the oven w/ nothing underneath. Of course it bubbled over and took me hours to clean.
Does she do this at home ???? As my grandmother always said "fish and hose guests both start to stink after a few days ". I think the best guests are people who entertain a lot themselves.
Have fun and try not to work too hard - the bee
I meant "house guests " above
Can't family be the worst guests sometimes! Sorry to hear about your plumbing bill.
Fish in the frig, guests in the bathroom- it all starts to stink in short order. Hope everyone's sniffles are cleared and you are continuing to enjoy your Christmas reads.
Rest now, Angie. Rest now.
Chore can wait.
