Hoe Hoe Hoe Your Rows
Have you ever had a vegetable garden?
One with rows?
And weeds?
Do you hate the hours upon hours of having to do the back breaking chore of hoeing weeds?
I do!
Eventually at some point I have even let weeds just have it and walked away from a garden.
I know.
Shameful it is.
This year I have big plans for my garden. Same as every year only this year I have Steve who also has big plans for a garden.
Yayyyy! Help with fighting the weeds.
Only this year we have a secret weapon.
Steve bought this.
Hopefully I won't have to hoe too many rows in the beating sun this spring and summer.

Yes, I have had a vegetable garden; back when I was young enough to hoe! It was 40x40, and I grew tomatoes, corn, cukes, squash, eggplants and flowers. It was great, but now I am more into container vegetables...LOL

Your husband is so great. Perhaps baby Steven can push a toy lawn mower while you hoe?
When my little brother was small my mom would garden by tying him to her belt loop. It was the only way to keep track of him . How do you manage to get so much done w/ a toddler ?
I have my 2 yr old niece in a few weeks visiting and need some tips. Mostly we plan on wearing her out so she naps . Good luck w/ the garden . Looks like it will be wonderful . bee

My dad always had a vegetable garden and when I look back at just how small it was - I'm amazed and totally impressed by what he grew.
I've been contemplating starting my own, probably just some containers though...

I put in a big garden, and I'm a huge fan of mulch. Old straw, hay, dry grass clippings, or whatever you can get cheaply and in bulk. Just pile it on, thickly, around the plants and even in the aisles. Feeds the soil and the soil "herd" (instead of chemical fertilizers), keeps moisture in, smothers small weeds, and keeps new weed seeds from germinating. Weeding is easy (b/c the soil is loose and moist underneath). I promise!
