Christmas Baskets

| | Comments (10)

It is that time of year again when I begin to put together my Christmas baskets.

This is what I have so far -

Pepper Jelly

Crabapple Jelly

Dried Rosemary

Dried Thyme

Dried Mint

Dried Parsley

Crushed dried red chili peppers

Black walnuts (from our trees)

A homemade ornament - as of yet unknown

Maybe some homemade beer

If the chickens are laying there will be a gift box of fresh organic eggs

The goats should still be making milk and there might also be quarts of homemade yogurt

Also homemade cheese

I am also thinking about a loaf of fresh crusty bread

I have no idea what else

Any ideas?

Would you like to have some if not all of the above in a nice pretty basket during the holidays?

I am all about the homemade gifts. I know some people will call us cheap and feel slighted but those are the people who have no idea the efforts it takes to make things from scratch with them in mind.

Now, fill up my comments with ideas and suggestions.

Please.

And thank you.

The people that would think your baskets are cheap don't know what Christmas is really about. The people that receive these baskets should realize how much they are loved.

Everything - with the exception of the rosemary, sounds wonderful. (I simply don't like rosemary.)

I LOVE homemade gifts. I prefer the time, energy and care put into creating them.

Will you be making the ornaments?

It is all great, including the rosemary! Renn, how can you NOT like it?

Angie, how do you dry the rosemary? I have 2 bushes of it and I want to dry it too.

If I'm EXTRA good, and don't beat the loving crap out of Precious Youngest, can I get a Christmas Basket? Pretty Please?

Oh those baskets sound WONDERFUL. If anyone doesn't appreciate them, they should be relegated to just the Christmas Card list next year. Anyone should do backflips to be on that wonderful gift list.

The only thing I would add is something hostess gifty, like a tea towel or something fun that will make them think of you when they use it in their kitchen. You could buy plain ones and use fabric paint to print stephen's cute foot print on them.

Brilliant!
I like the crusty loaf of bread idea, me being me, I would also add some sweet baked thing like a coffee cake or something. Even without it, I'd love to receive something exactly like that and know that the giver had put love into every item.

You are a sweet girl.

I too, am working on Christmas baskets. I like to crochet and I make jewelry usig semi-precious beads. So I have been making shawls, scarves, beaded prayer pillows and bracelets. However, some of what I've made have already gone out to friends in immediate need, so I am working to catch back up.

It's too late for Christmas 2007, but about right for Christmas 2008.
How about a knitted (or crocheted) Christmas star or snowflake?
