Spring Chicks
February 9th we made a trip across the mountains and into West Virginia to meet a lovely lady and her husband that I met through the World Wide Web.
We had lunch at Fatboy's Pork Palace. The pulled pork sandwhich was great!

She gave me a pair of blue orpingtons. Beautiful 12 week old cockeral and pullet.

We brought them home along with two dozen hatching eggs.

The eggs went into my incubator. 19 days later they began to hatch.

On day 21 I had 12 fat fluffy chicks!
How cool is that? Steven was just in awe at the new "chickdees!"

I love my fuzz butts! I have goose eggs in the incubator now! Woot!!!

They are so cute (after they dried off, of course). I bet Steven was in Heaven playing with them!
Awwww! They are awfully cute when they're all fuzzy like that.
The first shot of the egg cracking had me ooh-ing.
The second and third were a little alien-like.
I was back in love with the chick-ie as of picture #4.
What a blessing that you can raise your own chickens!
What is even more amazing to me is that they came out of eggs a little smaller than the ones you buy at the grocery store. They simply unfold. It is very powerful to witness life being born.
So amazing.
I've never seen those kind of chickens before.
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
For some reason it made it feel like Spring and Easter to watch them hatch.
Anyplace called Fat Boy's Pork Palace has GOT to be good. In fact, you could call it Pork Boy's Fat Palace and I'd still eat there.
Such pretty chickens! I've never seen that type before, I don't think.
But the geese, *shudder*. I have an aversion to geese. I hope you plan to eat them. They deserve it!
Can you say Christmas goose? Mmmmm, I can almost taste it now!
The chicks are cute, but the adults are gorgeous! Never thought I'd say that about a chicken!
That is so amazing. I was going to say what you said, about seeing life appear. Unbelievable!
Congrats Mama!
I love these chickens, Angie. The chicks hatching reminds me of the Spring we had ducklings hatch- what a wonderful time we had with them!
Love those chicks Angie...and your nail color coordinates perfectly too. Farming and fashion - I love it!
