Thirteen Things about Angie
1. I have not seen the movie but I have the soundtrack for Walk The Line. Wow! Joaquin Phoenix! Who knew that boy could sing? 2. I spent yesterday in a pre-diabetes class for gestational diabetes. The doctor recommended stressed ordered that I attend the classes and follow the 'self management' program because I failed the fasting blood glucose test with a 95mg/dL. According to everything I have read and all the research I can find the target for pregnancy is between 60 and 100 mg/dL for fasting. How did I fail? I am seriously going to question him next week about the results and also question who set the target levels and why are they below all others I can find? 3. I am pricking my fingers 4 times a day and using a freestyle monitoring machine. I have to test my glucose every morning before I eat, 1 hour after every meal. It doesn't hurt but after a few days I wonder if my finger tips will be sore. 4. I am told that I have to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. What I am supposed to be eating in many cases is way more than we are accustomed to eating. I had to force myself to eat a sandwich before bedtime last night. Eating before you go to bed is what makes you pack on the pounds. 5. They better not say 1 word when they see how the pounds will jump onto me FAST. I mean super fast. We do not eat that much food in a day. What are they thinking? I'll have to start eating the time my eyes pop open until bedtime. :-/ 6. Steven went with me to the classes. He has been very diligent and helps me test by getting everything ready and prepping the machine. He is such a good nurse. 7. While we sat in the class yesterday watching a video I took his hand and laid it across my stomach. Bump. Bump. Bump. Bump. In perfectly timed rythm. The baby had hiccups that lasted almost 10 minutes. 8. Sometimes I am easily amused and entertained. 9. It is raining here today. I can but I refuse to walk in the rain. 10. Having needed an antibiotic to get over a very bad head cold/sinus infection, having suddenly developed laryngitis I don't think it is such a good idea to walk around in the cold and rain this morning even though I am supposed to walk daily. 11. I have no idea what to prepare for supper tonight. I am sick of food and it being thrust in my face all day long. 12. I am listening to Johnny Cash. I got several nice cd's and books for Christmas. They make it very easy to do nothing but sit with earphones and read. 13. Johnny is cool as hell but George Strait is the man. Yummy. He has an innocent yet very playful and mischeivious smile -just like my Steven -who is also very yummy. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! MommaK Raehan

Thirteen Things about Angie
***UPDATED to add cinnamon roll recipe***
1. The doctor gave me a strong antibiotic. It is working. My face no longer hurts from the sinus to the bones and the start of it moving to my chest has stopped. Another day or so and I should be all better for Christmas. 2. The first Christmas Steven and I had together the gremlins moved in. We were visited by pestulance in the form of flying spiders on our fresh cut Christmas tree. We were on orange alert for possible headlice which ended up being code red. Steven had pink eye and other ailments. 3. The second Christmas the girls were sick. The plague was visited upon us in several forms. Also we had appliances that decided to go belly up. Not to mention we were in the middle of negotiating the contract for this house and my nerves were completely shot. We also had to replace the dishwasher on Thanksgiving. 4. This year we are being visited but the Ghost of Christmas flood. The septic tank had to be pumped because things were backing up in my downstairs bathtub. The next day we are still having major back up problems. The plumbing/septic company returned to snake the pipes. Several hundreds of dollars later we can now bathe and flush the toilets but the washing machine drain lines have to be replumbed. 5. Next year better not be the year of the famine. :-/ 6. This conversation happened with Steven at work. "last year you gave her a farm for Christmas. How are you going to top that this year?" He had no snappy reply. Last year we did not sign the papers on the house until January 25th. This year he has topped it by a long shot. He has given me something I never had before. A baby boy, only he won't arrive until January also. We have had to spend so much on repairs lately I asked him not to spend the money on the Nikon D70s. It can wait. I would like a bluetick hound. But I can't see that happening. 7. Steven and the girls are going somewhere this morning. No mother's are allowed. I am tired of begging them not to spend money on me for Christmas. He won't listen. 8. I need to get through today and tomorrow and then, AND THEN!! we get to go eat peking duck. My mouth is watering already at the thought!!! 9. I need to call and get a load of firewood delivered. 10. I have a washer full of wet soppy clothes waiting for Steven to repair the plumbing so I can finish my chores. 11. I love waking up on Christmas morning and my house being perfectly clean. Not one thing out of place. Everything sparkling and shiney. Breakfast mostly prepared. Coffee pot waiting to be switched on. Children not allowed to come downstairs until Steven and I are up, the coffee is on, the tree is lit and the camera ready to capture the moment. The kids HATE it. Hahahaha I am so mean. 12. This is our first Christmas in our house. There is something very special about it. I want to freeze time and save itin a bottle so I can uncap it every once in a while and take adeep sniff. My house will be scented with lemons and oranges and apples and cinnamon. there will be awesome cinnamon rolls waiting to be popped in the oven while the kids are opening their Santa trove of treasures. I'll try to remember to post the recipe for the cinnamon rolls. They are the BEST. 13. Thank you all for being so sweet and kind. Thank you for the friendships and acquaintances we have formed over these past months. Thank you for listening when I whine and gripe. Thank you for the sholders to cry on when things aren't so well. May you also be blessed now and in the new year. May you find God's peace that passes understanding. May He bless you and keep you for all the days of your lives. Judy and Hope, I found this about Windows XP. It looks like Microsoft took out the code and now the Java needs a plugin for some editions. Try updating windows with the service packs available through Microsoft and check out this plugin.
Thirteen Things about Angie
1. I didn't get to bake yesterday. I'll try again today. 2. I am not super woman. I just get a lot done by planning for it and sometimes putting other things off to accomplish a goal. I also have help. I didn't climb the ladder or climb out a second story window for Christmas lights. 3. I don't do well just sitting with my feet up. 4. Thank you all for the compliments on my decorations. I do it for the joy and excitement it brings my kids. I know you all can imagine how a child's face and eyes light up when they take in all that is the magic and wonder of the Christmas season. 5. I am serving a buffet style dinner for my Christmas party Saturday night. I finally settled on a menu. There will probably be too much food. 6. We recieved a huge box in the mail today from Steven's aunts. 7. It was a baby shower in a box. 8. It has babyshower foods (cookies etc, with plates and napkins), a balloon, a diaper bag, a baby book, lovely baby toys and spoons, along with several outfits. They were beyond generous. 9. We were very surprised. 10. We will have one very well dressed baby in designer jeans and polo shirts. 11. I am now sick of the snow. I have my photos. It can go away now. Please. It is supposed to snow again this week. 12. Another online journalist is coming to our Christmas party. 13. I am soooooooooooo excited to meet her and her lovely family. I wish all of you could come as well. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! 1. MommaK 2. Raehan

Thirteen Things about Angie
1. I am far too busy for any single one person! I need to change my background it will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow. Deal with it. 2. Most of the Christmas decorations are finished. I said most, not all. I have boxes I need to take to the attic and Steven has some lights that went belly up last night. 3. Yesterday I had to do the fasting 3 hour blood glucose test. I hate those things. I hate getting stuck with needles even more. 4. I have my regular OB appointment today. I have to go every 2 weeks now. I HATE going to the doctor! 5. Most of my plans for the Christmas party we are having are falling into place. The menu is still not complete. I seem to change my mind alot according to my pregnant moodiness. 6. Why is it some people cannot seem to RSVP in a timely fashion? 7. Gracie seems to have grown up over night. I was just looking at her this morning and she seems far older than 7 years. 8. Steven is working from home today. Yahhh me -'cept I have a stupid doctors appointment and won't be here most of the late morning and early afternoon. 9. Do you know Braxton-Hicks contractions hurt? 10. I am starting to leak milk. Things are happening too early for me. 11. I want it to snow while my Christmas decorations are up so I can use the photo for next years christmas card. 12. I can't believe I want it to snow. Snow bothers me after 1 day. 13. The fire is burning, the room is cozy. Why do I have to leave my house this morning?!?! Arghhh!! Links to other Thursday Thirteens! MommaK Raehan
