Advant Edge Drinks

EAS is the makers of the Advant Edge low carb shakes. I first found this brand at Walmart when they were clearancing out a lot of stuff in the pharmacy during a store remodeling job.

I purchased a 4 pack of the chocolate fudge flavor for under $4. I like this drink much better than the Atkins equivalent. The chocolate taste is better and in general the price is lower.

Later I went back and picked up the strawberry and the french vanilla flavors. Both 4 packs for the same clearanced price of $4.

The strawberry is sort of like drinking strawberry quick. It has a pleasant taste and little aftertaste.

Not true with the vanilla. The vanilla tastes like water that has had vanilla extract dumped in. I do not care for the vanilla at all. However, Colby likes it just fine.

I was thrilled with the fact that I could drink this shake in place of lunch and only consume 1 carb. That is major for an 11oz drink.

Imagine my surprise when we picked up a new package of the advant Edge shakes and found they had change the formula.

I thought I had mistaken the carb count. I dug through the garbage for an old container so that I could compare it to a new one. I was right! The fuzzy brain syndrome of ketosis was not making me think I had lost it. The new drinks are 2carbs and 110 calories.

I do not understand at all why they would boost the carbs. 1 carbs is sacrificed for 2 extra grams of protein and an added 10 calories. It makes no sense.

While this shake in the chocolate flavor is my drink of preference I can no longer judge it against the Atkins Advantage Shake.

They both have 2 carbs now. The hike in carbs is a blow to my grading system. Due to this change I can only give them 4 fatlady jiggles.
